JioPhone delivery to complete by November-end

JioPhone delivery is nearing its completion. There are reports that the company could complete the delivery of the JioPhone by the end of November. The company earlier said that it would finish the JioPhone delivery by Diwali.

The pre-booking for the JioPhone began in August. Buyers were asked to pay a refundable deposit of Rs 500 at the time of pre-booking. The remaining Rs 1000 should be paid after the phone is delivered to you. The company will refund you the entire amount(Rs 1500) when the phone has been used and returned after 3 years.

The JioPhone was announced in July. The pre-booking for the phone started on August 24. The delivery of the phone began in late September. It was said that the company would begin the delivery in smaller cities and rural areas first followed by urban areas. This is the reason why some of your friends may have received the JioPhone and some won’t.

Meanwhile, there are new reports that the company has stopped the production of JioPhone and is now planning to build a Android smartphone to take on its rivals- Airtel and Vodafone  that have recently caused a storm in the market by launching affordable 4G smartphones bundled with data and voice call plans. JioPhone works on KAIOS. The feature phone works well, has smart features,  offers good 4G speed but lacks the support for popular apps like Facebook and WhatsApp.

JioPhone comes bundled with Rs 153 plan. The plan offers 500MB 4G data per day, free voice calls and SMSes with 28 days validity. The company updated its terms and conditions page in September. As per its T&C, the company holds the right to repossess the JioPhone if the user fails to do a minimum recharge of Rs 1500 per year for 3 years. Also you will not be returned your full refundable deposit if you return the phone before the completion of 3 years. The company will charge Rs 1000 plus applicable GST or other taxes if you return the phone between 12 months to 24 months. It is Rs 500 if you after 24 months and up to 36 months from the date of first issue of the JioPhone.
